Our Various Teaching Training Programs
Our TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) and Teaching French as a Foreign Language certificates are among the best in the world. They are essentially a mini master's in applied linguistics, combining Hamid and Alex's decades of training, teaching and research experience in private schools, high schools, colleges and universities (see our LinkedIn profiles).
There are real people behind this TEFL program—it is not a random online certificate that pops up in a Google Search. Friendly, funny and knowledgeable Alex and Hamid introduce you to the world of teaching ESL (English as second language) and/or FSL (French as a second language).
The most brilliant part about our certificate is the practicum. You will be able to teach real online and/or in-person classes for kids and/or adults, with invaluable feedback on your teaching from Alex and Hamid.

In case you are new to the world of ESL, the TEFL level 4 certificate is the standard in the industry if you want to teach in Canada or abroad. Our certificate is special because it includes a practicum—that is the Languistic.ca edge! Employers want to see that you have real teaching experience, and you will get it in our program.
As for the program schedule, the first day of in-person training takes place at our school (see schedule for the date), École de langues Languistic (7275 rue Sherbrooke E), located in unit 2217 on the second floor of the Place Versailles mall (Métro Radisson) in Montréal. We will only meet a couple of times in person during the first two weeks of training. The first two weeks include intense methodology and curriculum training as well as teaching practice alongside other TEFL candidates in our program. That's right—you get to make new, lifelong friends striving to become teachers, too!
After the first two weeks, the rest of the course includes online self-study and an in-person teacher practicum, as well as in-person teacher training and feedback from Alex and Hamid. You receive a more detailed 12-week schedule (based on your availability) on the start date of the course. We are very flexible. However, you should be available at least one weeknight and Saturdays for a few hours of teaching (i.e., for your practicum). The program is part time, so you can still continue working or studying while completing our certificate.
Each week you should expect a few hours of self-study (to learn the methods and techniques), a short 30-minute online meeting with all TEFL candidates (to discuss the methods and techniques with Alex, Hamid and other candidates), and a few hours for your teaching practicum (to apply what you have learnt in the modules and meetings in your classes).
At the end of the 12 weeks, you will receive a 120-hour TEFL level 4 certificate upon successful completion of the program. We also feature outstanding candidates on our LinkedIn page, which really helps impress future employers. Likewise, the course includes a workshop on how to find TEFL opportunities abroad and locally. After our TEFL level 4 certificate, you may continue with TEFL level 5 if you wish to deepen your understanding and further develop your skills (read more below).
We look forward to meeting you and sharing our knowledge as experts in the field of TEFL and applied linguistics. We are the only school in Canada offering both in-person and online practicum opportunities, accredited by Emploi Québec and affiliated with the Applied Linguistics department of Concordia University.

In the TEFL level 5 certificate, we will go deeper into teaching methodologies and techniques (Task based approach, Content Based, Montessori Method, Detailed Classroom Assessment, Error Analysis and Correction, Learner Differences, etc.). You will be able to apply the methods in your practicum, teaching real classes —that is the Languistic.ca edge! Employers want to see that you have real teaching experience, and you will get it in our program. In the TEFL level 5 program, we will also personally help you tailor your CV for your desired position in Canada or abroad—Hamid and Alex know what schools and institutes want to see!
Each week you should expect five hours of self-study (learning methods and techniques) and a few hours for your teaching practicum (you will apply what you have learnt in the modules and meetings in your classes).
You will receive a more detailed 10-week schedule (based on your availability) on the start date of the course. We are very flexible. However, you should be available at least one weeknight and/or Saturdays for a few hours of teaching (i.e., for your practicum).
