  • Courses are 10 weeks in length and are offered online or in a hybrid program (in-person + online) at Place Versailles in Montréal from Monday to Saturday.

  • 3+ courses per week: 1h20 Skills Class (Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing) & 2+ conversation classes per week

  • Oral and written exam at the end of each 10-week semester, with accredited certificate

Adult French Level Description

French Level 1

This level is ideal if:

  • You’ve never studied French before

  • You want to review and strengthen your foundation in French

What you will learn:

  • How to introduce yourself and talk about your profession and family

  • How to describe your home, daily activities, and hobbies

  • How to talk about food, clothing, health, and the weather

  • How to express time, dates, and places

  • Practical, everyday vocabulary for beginners

Grammar covered:

  • The verbs être, avoir, faire, aller

  • Regular verbs in the present tense (ER, IR, RE)

  • Modal verbs: pouvoir, vouloir, devoir, savoir, connaître

  • Reflexive verbs (e.g., se lever, s’habiller)

  • Subject pronouns, articles, prepositions of place and time

  • Possessive and demonstrative adjectives (e.g., mon, ton, ce, cette)

Includes:

  • Weekly themes (clothing, food, household chores, etc.)

  • Oral exam and written exam at the end of the session

  • Complete review in Week 9

French Level 2

This level is ideal if:

  • You already know basic French (present tense, simple vocabulary)

  • You want to expand your grammar and vocabulary to talk about more complex topics for work

  • You can form basic sentences but want to improve fluency and accuracy

What you will learn:

  • How to describe your daily life, personality, and relationships

  • How to talk about your skills, job, and use technology-related vocabulary

  • How to express opinions and compare living in the city vs. countryside

  • How to handle common real-life topics like banking and the workplace

Grammar covered:

  • Present tense: regular and irregular verbs

  • Past tense (passé composé): regular verbs, irregular verbs, Dr & Mrs Vandertramp verbs

  • Near future (futur proche) and simple future (futur simple)

  • Intensifiers and modifiers: trop, très, si, assez

  • Reflexive verbs

  • Questions and negation

Includes:

  • Weekly practical themes (banking, work, relationships, technology, etc.)

  • Oral exam in Week 9 and written exam in Week 10

  • Full review before exams

French Level 3

This level is ideal if:

  • You can speak in the present and past tenses with some confidence

  • You want to become more fluent and precise in conversation

  • You're ready to deepen your understanding of complex grammar and sentence structures

What you will learn:

  • How to talk about life in a French-speaking city (like Montreal)

  • How to discuss moving abroad, housing, work, and school

  • How to explore topics like business, the environment, innovation, and cultural activities

  • How to express complex ideas, give opinions, and describe past experiences in detail

Grammar covered:

  • Imperfect (imparfait) vs. past tense (passé composé)

  • Prepositional verbs

  • Conditional present and past

  • Present participle (gérondif)

  • Comparatives and superlatives

  • Subjunctive mood

  • Relative pronouns (qui, que, dont, où…)

  • Pronouns y and en

  • Pluperfect (plus-que-parfait)

Includes:

  • Weekly themes that blend real-life and professional topics

  • Oral exam in Week 9 and written exam in Week 10

  • Full review before final assessments

French TEF
PREparation course

This course is ideal if:

  • You need to take the TEF Canada or TEF Québec (TEFAQ) for immigration or citizenship purposes

  • You want to improve your score in all four test sections: speaking, listening, reading, and writing

  • You already have a basic to intermediate level of French and want to focus on test strategies

What you will learn:

  • How to understand and answer multiple-choice questions for listening and reading sections

  • How to structure your writing tasks (formal/informal emails, justifications, comparisons, summaries)

  • How to succeed in the oral section (part 1: interaction; part 2: expressing and defending an opinion)

  • Key expressions, grammar structures, and time-management strategies to boost your performance

  • How to avoid common mistakes and what examiners are looking for

Focus areas:

  • Listening comprehension (audio clips, radio, interviews, announcements)

  • Reading comprehension (articles, ads, messages, formal and informal documents)

  • Writing strategies (organizing ideas, using connectors, avoiding repetition)

  • Speaking strategies (clarity, fluency, vocabulary range, expressing opinions clearly)

  • Vocabulary expansion and grammar review specific to the TEF levels (A2–C1)
